School Application Procedure

The following steps will help you and your family in making this important decision for your child.

1.  Inquiry –We will be happy to answer any questions you have about

       Lighthouse Montessori School and our application procedure.

2.  Parent Visit  (Parents/Guardians only)—An opportunity to assess  the

      environment in which your child may potentially be placed. 

      Part 1 ~ Tour our school to see the classrooms, the materials we use and to

      learn about the Montessori philosophy & method of education. 

      Part 2 ~ Observe a Montessori classroom in action.  An observation sheet 

      will help  you understand what is happening as you view the children and staff

      in their daily learning activities.  This appointment should be scheduled  on

     Tuesdays , Wednesdays or Thursdays during class times.  (8:30*11:30 am 

      or 12:30-3:30 pm)   Call the office to schedule an appointment @ 523-7315.

3.  Child Assessment (Prospective Student only)—An opportunity for your child 

       to  visit the school during class time and participate in a class session. 

      Children are evaluated on the basis of readiness for school and potential for

      success in a Montessori classroom.  Call  to schedule an appointment.

4.  Parent/Teacher Consultation—An opportunity to visit with the teacher

     to discuss your classroom observation, your child's class visit, your educational

     goals for your child  and any other  questions or concerns you may have.

5.  Application Packet—Complete and return, along with the

      non-refundable application fee of $50.00 ($100.00 for elementary).

      Application packets are available from the school office.

6.  Acceptance—The school will notify you of your child's acceptance

      within two weeks.  Your child*s space will be secured only upon receipt

      of the required deposit and signed contracts.         

  7.  Waiting List—If there are no openings available, you may request to be placed

        on our waiting list.  You will be notified when a space becomes available.
